How do veterans become homeless?

Substance abuse, unstable employment, and incarceration.

One in 3 of our nation's 19 million veterans report having been arrested and jailed at least once, with more than 181,000 presently behind bars. Statistics show that former service members make up 8% of those who are in state prisons and 5% of inmates residing in federal prison.
